The Intercultural Film and Discussion Series invites community members to explore themes of identity, migration, and cultural heritage through cinema. Each session features a carefully selected film followed by an open discussion facilitated by cultural experts and community leaders.
Program Overview:
The event begins at 6:30 PM with a welcome reception offering light refreshments and opportunities for socializing. At 7:00 PM, the featured film for the evening will be screened. Films are chosen to reflect experiences relevant to Senegalese and Martinican communities, with themes such as family ties, cultural conflict, resilience, and community solidarity.
After the screening, a moderated discussion will encourage participants to share their reflections, insights, and personal connections to the film’s subject matter. This dialogue aims to deepen understanding of the complexities of cultural identity and migration while fostering empathy and solidarity.
Throughout the series, additional sessions will include guest speakers such as filmmakers, anthropologists, and historians who provide context and answer audience questions.
This event promotes cultural education and intercultural dialogue in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
